Music and Culture

MU 208w.   Music and Culture. An intercultural introduction to music as culture. Topics include voice types, instrument categorizations, pitch and time systems, musical structure, transcription/notation, and ethnography.
Prerequisite: ability to read music and permission of instructor.

Fulfills the arts-B component of breadth requirement; meets expository writing requirement for students who placed at EN 105 level or who have completed EN 103.
