Denise Hughes

Denise Hughes, Department Secretary, began her career at Skidmore at the Van Lennep Riding Center where she was the Riding Program Assistant from 1981 – 1990. Denise worked closely with the Skidmore College Women’s Polo Team and still keeps in touch with many of the players and coaches. Denise joined the Art Department in January 1990 and has taken classes in Ceramics, Jewelry & Metals, Drawing, Textile Design, Weaving, Graphic Design and Photography. Denise served on the Skidmore Employees Federal Credit Union board of directors for many years and maintains memberships in USET, USPA, and The National Museum of Racing. Denise graduated from Saratoga High School majoring in business law/business math.
Denise and her family are currently researching the family history in Saratoga Springs. Relatives were recorded as early as 1791 in the Saratoga County Clerk’s Office. There are two streets named after Denise’s grandparents, Van Dorn Street and Waterbury Street on the west side of Saratoga. Denise plans to publish the genealogical diagram soon. Denise is also in the process of recording and photographing the remaining coach stones located on streets throughout Saratoga and Greenfield Center. Denise plans to publish the history of coach stones in the area next summer.
