Prof. Linrothe's peeves

1. Page numbers must be printed on each page (upper right or bottom center).
2. Avoid run-on sentences.
3. Be sure there is verb tense/number agreement, and that nouns and pronouns agree.
4. Avoid dangling participles.
5. Avoid sentence fragments.
6. Avoid repeating generalized subject-verb forms like: "one sees," "one concludes," and "one knows."
7. Distinguish your topic from your thesis.  Transitions and restatement of your thesis during the course of the paper help reinforce your thesis.
8. Have a final paragraph summary and conclusion.
9. Use concrete illustrations of the abstract ideas you promote.
10. Be creative!  Think creatively, write creatively.
