India and the World, Performing Arts Conference

Here is some practical information concerning the conference 'India and its others'. You have to make your own travel and hotel arrangements but we've selected three hotels (mentioned below - but we do not take any responsibility...). However, you may want to book directly through an internet booking site. There are many, but perhaps the most interesting is www.tripadvisor.com with lots of travelers’ experiences. You may also want to check out the official tourist info of Amsterdam (www.amsterdamtourist.nl). Please book well in advance!

Please note that the official dates of the conference are November 20-22, 2008. We would strongly request you to arrive on the 19th. Reception and enrollments will take place on the 19th, and there will be an official opening speech by Shree Arvind Parikh, who will come specially for this purpose, followed by an informal meeting. Then, we hope you will be fresh for the starting sessions on the 20th. The 22d is a Saturday, so you may want to hang on and leave on Sunday...

Lloyd hotel
This is the conference hotel, you can get a discount. If you contact them please mention that you will be coming to the India and the World Performing Arts Conference (Amsterdam University). This extremely interesting art-hotel has rooms from 1 to 5 stars. Since some of the more-stars-rooms are really big, you might take one with more persons. If you don't know anyone who'll come to the conference, but you'd like to share anyway, please let us know and we'll see if we find other people to share a room.

Hotel Le Coin
This hotel is only minutes away from the conference and right in the centre of Amsterdam. It is a 3 star hotel with large and pleasant rooms. Several rooms have been reserved for conference guests, but you will have to book for the full period (four nights from 19 to 22 – leaving 23). If you contact them please mention that you will be coming to the India and the World Performing Arts Conference (Amsterdam University). Booking through hotel@lecoin.nl.
