David
Domozych’s laboratory works with charophycean green algae and specifically,
the cell biology and biochemistry of their cell walls and extracellular
polymeric substances (EPS). His main interest is in the elucidation
of the evolution of cell wall macromolecules especially as they
relate to the emergence of primitive land plants and the development
of complex morphotypes. In addition, he is interested in the ways
one group of CGA, the desmids, enter into biofilm communities of
wetlands. The Domozych laboratory also has active research collaborations
with the laboratories of William Willats (University of Copenhagen),
Michael Gretz (Michigan Technological University) and Peter Ulvskov
(University of Aarhus). Recent
publications emanating from the
lab can be found here.
