The
years prior to Alexander's invasion of Asia were formative in
many ways for the young prince of Macedon. Tutored by Aristotle,
reared by Olympias and maturing in the shadow of Philip, Alexander
acquired the necessary skills from 356-334 BCE to launch a massive
invasion of the Persian empire. What impact did these early years
have on Alexander's character? Produce an annotated bibliography
on one of the following topics utilizing all electronic and print
resources available:
- Alexander's
relationship with his parents - Philip II of Macedon and Olympias
of Epirus
- Alexander's
relationship with Aristotle of Stagira
- Philip's
death and the accession of Alexander to the Macedonian throne
- Philip
and Alexander's dealings with the Greeks
Your
bibliography should include no fewer than ten items published
after 1970. Each annotation should consist of a one-paragraph
summary of the thesis of the book, article, or encyclopedic entry
in question. Due date: Feb. 11.
