Although I no longer work in the corporate world, I did use my French Major/Business Minor during my business career in French Perfumery. For eleven years (1976-1987) I worked for various French perfume companies in marketing in the New York Corporate Offices (Parfums Givenchy, Parfums Nina Ricci, Parfums Rochas and Germaine Monteil Cosmetiques Corp.) At my last job in the industry (Germine Monteil), I ran the marketing department for the fragrance division of that company. I was the liaison between the French offices and the American offices, so I always had plenty of opportunity to use my French language skills. My jobs also inlcuded travel to Paris and England. Sadly, after I "retired" from the fragrance world, my use of French declined dramatically. J'ai honte de dire que maintenant le francais me manque. I am sure, though, that I have not lost it and that the years of studying French are nestled in some spot in my brain just waiting to be revived. I had planned to go to France this summer which would have been Step One in reviving my French language skills. However, due to the current crisis in the Middle East, I think I will stay close to home this year!
