Course description

FI 102 is the continuation of 101. It includes basic grammar, composition,
conversation and readings through contextualized exercises and activities.
Students are expected to participate in partner/pair, small group, and individual
work in order to develop an active and creative use of elementary Italian-language
skills. Effective communication strategies are the ultimate goal. Authentic
materials from Italy will be used to help develop natural contemporary discourse
and to enhance the study of Italian culture today.

Class Meetings

Five (5) hours @ week, four in the classroom with the instructor and one with
driller. Additional 20 - 40 minutes weekly in Language Lab.

Attendance

OBLIGATORY. More than 3 classes missed will result in automatic lowering of
grade. Language Lab time and DRILL session are also obligatory. This is a
four credit course.

Grades

The final course grade will be based on the following:
30 % = attendance, preparation, presentations
30 % = mini-quizzes (11 given, lowest grade dropped)
30 % = mid-term and final (written and oral)
10% = final project

Requirements

1. Participation in class. Attendance and preparation are required (more than three classes missed will result in automatic lowering of final grade).
