The number of participating institutions increased to 79 for HRUMC IV. The number of attendees and their breakdown into groups according to gender, status (faculty vs. student), etc. was pretty much as in past meetings. In addition to the invited address, this year's schedule features 48 sessions of talks split into 3 sets of 16 concurrent sessions each. Each session features 2 or 3 talks each for a total of 133 talks. Of these, the majority of the talks will be delivered by undergraduates. 87 of the short talks were advertised as Level I talks, the remaining 46 as Level II.
Here is a list of the sessions. (Click on the "details" of each session to bring up a list of the lecture titles & speakers.)
Note: there will be some live music in the lecture hall preceding Mandelbrot's talk:
Special Note: Prof. Mandelbrot will appear on Prof Morgan's live call-in Math Chat Sunday evening (April 13, 1997) at 6:30-7:00 pm on (Williamstown local) cable channel 15.
