Here's a list of steps to take if you are doing your first mixdown from 16 track to DAT:
Load tape onto
16 track machine
, be sure it is well seated on the 16 track machine (safety switch down on reel hold down knob)
Place
remote control
into "all playback"
Press the "FLIP button on the mixer
Press the "ST" button on the mixer
Bring up the listening volume on the mixer (control room gain knob) about 40%
Place your DAT tape into the
DAT machine
and press the record button (to practice mixing)
Turn on the Speakers with the
speaker switch
Playback the 16 track tape (press the PLAY button on the
REMOTE control
)
Move the Master Stereo Fader (slider) up about 80% towards the top
Move the various other input faders, according to which tracks have sound on them on the 16 track
Practice your mix WATCHING ALL METERS, especially the ST bus meters on the Mixer and the DAT meters
After a practice mix or two, watching meters, hold down RECORD and press PLAY on the DAT macine.
Now do your mix
Rewind the DAT and press "2TD-1" on the mixer to hear the DAT playback (press PLAY on the DAT)
