These are our Yamaha NS-10 studio monitors. They are used as our "near-field" monitors. They are a standard in the professional recording industry. Students often choose these monitors for their mixing work because they simulate the sound of smaller consumer speakers (car radio speakers, tv speakers, etc.). When mixing, it's important to try your mix over as many different sets of speakers (including headphones) as possible.

ALSO shown in this photo is the "meter bridge" of the Yamaha O2R mixer. This shows your mic/line input levels AND your tape return levels (levels coming from the tape recorder back into the mixer). Watch the center LEDs closely when mixing...so that the PEAKLIGHTS do not come on during your mixdown (possible distortion!)
