Concerts, Master Classes, and Lectures
(complete listing since 1997)
Each year, the Skidmore Music Department mounts a diverse program of events in Filene Recital Hall. (See the table below for a semester by semester listing of all our musical events, back to 1997.)
Three great series of concerts, master classes and lecture-recitals by world-renowned guest artists, composers, and scholars.
Recitals by Skidmore's highly regarded faculty.
Solo recitals and chamber music and small combo performances by our talented classical and jazz students.
    And performances by Skidmore ensembles

All these and more contribute to the rich musical life on campus.

Over the years, a remarkable collection of great musicians have visited the campus under the auspices of the Filene Concert Series (since 1982) and the Sterne Virtuoso Series (since 1997). Beginning in the fall of 2007, Skidmore initiated a different sort of series -- Carnegie Hall Premieres -- in collaboration with the Academy (a program of Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute), in partnership with the New York City Schools. Click here for a complete listing of all the outstanding musicians who have appeared at Skidmore as Filene or Sterne artists since 1982.
