E. RECITALS

1. GENERAL REGULATIONS

a. Recitals may be presented during the following times:

i. Senior Recitals: Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 1pm, 4pm, or 8pm
ii. Non-Senior Recitals: Thursdays at 8pm and Fridays at 4pm, 6pm. Non-senior recitals may be scheduled on Friday at 8pm, after the senior recital sign-up period.
iii. Recitals may be held in Filene Hall or, if available, other performing spaces on campus, such as the Payne Room at the Tang.
iv. Ensemble, faculty or guest artist concerts/lectures may be scheduled during these allocated times, but will be reserved before the semester begins.
v. Seniors have until one week after senior recital auditions to reserve a date for their recital in the hall.
b. Departmental accompanists are paid a fee for the preparation and performance of a solo or shared recital. Beginning with the 2006-07 academic year, any student using a departmental accompanist for a recital (with the exception of an approved Senior Recital) will be charged an accompanist's fee ($125 for a full recital; $75 for a shared recital) to cover a portion of the fee the college pays to the accompanists. Students enrolled in MP 375 (Senior Recital) will not be charged any accompanist fee. Students with financial need may apply for full or partial assistance with this fee through the Freeman Scholarship fund.
c. All recitals require an audition (see details in respective recital categories).

i. Students must complete their portion of the Jury Evaluation Form and Jury Approval Form and present them to the jurors and accompanist.
ii. Jurors and the accompanist will critique student’s jury performance with written evaluations. One copy of the evaluations will be given to the student and the studio faculty will retain one.
d. Senior recital auditions require the presence of the Artists-in-Residence and any part-time or academic faculty who wish to attend. Non-senior recital auditions require the presence of at least two music faculty.
