K. SMALL JAZZ ENSEMBLE PRACTICE REGULATIONS

1. Students in Small Jazz Ensembles may rehearse their groups in the Recital Hall or Green Room (behind the recital hall) in the evening after regularly scheduled classes have concluded.
2. Ensembles may request the department secretary to sign out evening times for them. Otherwise, the Recital hall and Green room will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
3. Registered student groups may sign out the Recital Hall for a maximum of two hours per week, but not more than one and one-half hours consecutively.
4. Students who sign out the Recital Hall for rehearsals must arrive no later than fifteen minutes after their scheduled time, or they will forfeit the use of the hall.
5. Only registered Small Jazz Ensembles that include a percussionist may use the rehearsal space in the Percussion Studio. Sign-up times are on a weekly basis (see sign-up sheet in the Security Office). The space may be signed out for a maximum time of four hours per week, but not more than two hours consecutively. Percussion students have priority in choosing practice times.
6. Students may use the SJE drum set and bass amp, and must have the department secretary unlock the piano, if needed. Music Department equipment must not leave Filene Music building or the Percussion Studio.
7. Students are responsible for returning department equipment to its storage space and locking the door to the equipment room. The piano should be closed and locked. Personal equipment and belongings should be removed, and the stage, Green Room and Percussion Studio should be clean and ready for the next user.
8. Students who fail to put equipment away and tidy the rehearsal space after they are finished may be subject to loss of rehearsal space privileges.
