Jan Vinci, First Prize winner of England's International Performance Competition, performed for England's Electric Music Festival, the Blossom Festival, the International Computer Music Conference in The Netherlands, the Chamber Music Conference of the East, and National Flute Association Conventions. She has played concerts in Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, and The Kitchen, and performed a duo concert with Julius Baker at Skidmore College. Her orchestra experience includes Albany, Cleveland Opera Theater and Heidelburg Orchestras. With Tritonis, a flute, cello and guitar trio, Ms. Vinci recorded Five Premieres: Chamber Works with Guitar on Albany Records. |
| Having toured extensively
with Tritonis and Iridescence, Ms. Vinci currently performs concerts with
Iridescence Flute and Harp Duo (Karlinda Caldicott, harp), and with Time's
Arrow (Ingrid Gordon, percussionist) at places such as the Brooklyn-Queens
Conservatory, Hofstra Cultural Center and the Astoria Performing Arts
Center.
Ms. Vinci's degrees include a D.M.A. from The Juilliard School, an M.M. from Cleveland Institute of Music, and a B.M. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her teachers include Julius Baker, Sam Baron, Maurice Sharp, Martha Aarons and Judith Bentley. Faculty credits include Skidmore College, Queens College, and Hofstra University. She served as president of the New York Flute Club in 2001-02. Dr. Vinci is on the faculty of the Skidmore Summer Flute Institute, which she founded eight years ago. |
