Filene Music Scholarships
Skidmore awards four Filene Music Scholarships each year through a performance competition coordinated by Skidmore's Department of Music. Each Filene Scholarship carries with it a four-year award totaling $40,000. Filene Scholars are not required to major in music; they are expected, however, to continue to develop their skills through private instruction in the Music Department each semester and to participate in department ensembles each semester as determined by the department chair.
What do Filene Scholars do when they graduate?
Filene Scholars have taken their talents into a huge range of careers, as described in this 2007 article. Check out these personal accounts of how the Filene Scholarship and Skidmore's unique opportunites for intense musical studies within a rich liberal arts context changed the lives of past and current students.
