
1. ALL BOARDERS both Skidmore and Community must actively participate in the Riding Program or they will loose stall priviledges.
2. Hard Hats and hard soled shoes are required. NO TENNIS SHOES!!!! Riding boots and breeches, or chaps and paddock shoes are perfered. All riders must be dressed neat, tidy, and workmanlike.
3. All Boarders must own any and all equipment and supplies necessary to the proper maintenance of the animal. Washer and dryer are for staff use only. Maintenance room is off limits to all.
4. Operating hours for the barn are posted outside the main door and will be STRICTLY OBSERVED. Closing means "OUT THE DOOR".
5. All riding must be done in the indoor or outdoor rings unless permission have been granted to ride elsewhere. When permission is granted, the rider must sign out and in on the memo board indicating the area in which he/she intends to ride and expected time of return. Failure to sign out/in will result in loss of permission to ride outside of the rings. No riding up and down Clinton Street and no riding on Campus.
6. No one may jump any horse at any time unless being taught by a Skidmore Riding Staff Member. This rule is necessary to insure the safety of everyone riding in the ring.
7. Horses must be cared for by their owners (grooming, turn-outs, cleaning tack, etc.) No one may turn out another boarder's horse without specific permission from the owner in writing. If a boadrer wishes to give another student permission to ride his/her horse, permission must be approved by the director and so indicated in writing in the boarder's folder. Do not leave the premises while horse is turned out.
8. Horses are NEVER to be left unattended. Horses are NEVER to be led by the halter. Leads MUST be used at all times.
9. All horses must be put away cool and well groomed. Suitable penalties will be enforced. All tack must be put away clean and neatly. All boarder's bridles must be tied up in the figure 8 fashion.
10. Riding Fees are not refundable after the add/drop dates posted by the college.Any private, semi-private or practice ride scheduled after this date will not be given the reduced rate.
11. Cancellations will be non-refundable. Make-ups will be scheduled as time permits. Absolutely no make-ups will be scheduled for no-shows.
12. Please be aware of announcements on the white board. Specials events and changes in operating hours will be posted.
13. Classes being conducted have the right-of-way, and directives given to ANY rider must be immediatly adhered to. Lunging by permission of Staff Members only.
14. Disruptive riders and/or horses may be asked to leave the ring by a staff member.
15. Please pick up after yourself and especially after your horse, i.e., manure in aisles/grooming stalls, immediatly after use. DO NOT MONOPOLIZE GROOMING STALLS.
16. Sign-up for Horse Shows must be done by 5:00pm Wednesday for Sunday shows.
17. Lost, stolen or destroyed equipment or tack will be charged to the negligent party.
18. Smoking in designated areas only. No alcoholic beverages permitted at any time.
19. Any questions and/or problems regarding Barn Management/Farrier and Vet must be communicated to the Director.
