Theater Departmental Meeting

TRANSFER STUDENTS meet with

Open to everyone interested in working in the theater and learning about the Department. You are strongly advised to attend this meeting. You will meet the theater faculty, staff and other students involved in theater. Departmental requirements, courses being offered, the Skidmore Theater Company, and the workshop production program will be explained. The directors of this semester's productions will discuss their productions and casting requirements. This is where you sign-up for auditions, find out about working in the Department, and place your name on a wait-list for closed theater courses.
Audition Workshop - The Blackbox Studio Theater
Wednesday, September 5, directly following Theater Meeting (about 8:00 pm)
This is an important opportunity for anyone who has never auditioned here before to learn about how our process works. Suggestions and guidelines about appropriate procedures will be discussed.

Seniors & Juniors - Thursday, September 6, 6:30 -11:00 pm
Sophomores & First Year Students - Friday, September 7, 6:30 -11:00 pm
Blackbox Studio Theater - Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater
General auditions for all of Skidmore Theater’s fall productions.
The Blackbox production will be John Cariani's ALMOST, MAINE
directed by Lary Opitz
The Mainstage production is William Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMERNIGHT'S DREAM
directed by Douglas Seldin.
Three Workshop productions will also be casting from these auditions.
Auditions are open to everyone, and new students are frequently cast. You should be prepared to present a contemporary monologue (from 1900 to the present) which is no longer than two minutes in length (preferably closer to one minute). You are also asked to prepare 10-12 lines of Shakespearean verse and a short portion (about eight bars, or twenty seconds) of a song without accompaniment. It is suggested that your contemporary monologue be relatively close to your own age range.
Skidmore Theater Company Meeting
Friday, September 7, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Mainstage Theater

This is the Theater Company’s first meeting, led by Technical Director and Production Manager, David Yergan.
The Spring 2011 production season will be discussed in depth. The opportunity to sign-up for technical crews (lights, set, and costumes) and management staff (Box Office, Visuals, Photography, Ad Sales, Publicity, Newsletter, etc.) will be explained.
CALL BACKS: Sat. & Sun., September 8 & 9, 2012
A list of actors who are called back for our Department productions will be posted in the JKB Theater lobby (on the grey doors near the elevator) shortly after the completion of auditions on Friday, September 7 (about midnight). If your name is on any of the lists, you must initial it. Instructions about the time and place for the call-backs will also be posted. Actors who are not called back for these productions and actors who are not cast in any of these productions are eligible for the workshop call-backs which will be held on Monday, September 10. On Sunday evening (about 6:00pm) cast lists and information on workshop call-backs will be posted in the JKB Theater lobby.
