Eastern College Career Day - New York City (ECCD - NYC) is an opportunity for graduating seniors from 9 colleges, including Skidmore, to participate in first-round interviews with a variety of organizations from the New York area.

Program Details:

• Seniors will have the opportunity to meet with New York employers, in NYC, for pre-screened job interviews in fields like scientific/medical research, law, retail buying, publishing, advertising/marketing, education, social services, and more.
• Employers will review your electronic resumes, cover letters, and any other required documents, and email candidates they would like to interview.

• Applicants must register, upload all required materials, and apply online by Friday, February 1, 2008 (11:59pm)

What To Do Now:

• Prior to applying, we strongly suggest having your materials reviewed (it is a very competitive program).  Career Services is open during most of Winter Break, and counselors are available for in-person and phone appointments.
• Find job descriptions, qualifications, company overviews, and required application documents at:
  Erecruiting: Eastern College Career Day (ECCD) by logging in, then clicking on Calendar, then selecting March 7, 2008. Let Career Services know if you have any questions.
• To begin developing your drafts, pick up a free copy of our Resume and Cover Letter Writing Guide in Career Services or view the PDF version. If you prefer, use our online resume building wizard, Optimal Resume.
• Have drafts of your resume and cover letters reviewed during Drop-In Hours before you leave campus for winter break, by appointment (phone or in-person) during break, and by appointment or during Drop-Ins when you return.
  

Applications:

• You can apply online for up to 13 half-hour interview slots.
• You must customize your cover letters for each opportunity; don't rely on one generic cover letter if you are applying to various fields of interest.
• Employers will choose their candidates based on the strength of the cover letters and resumes (and any other required documents you submit).

Interview Sign-Up:

• Candidates will be notified by email by if they are selected for interviews.
• Selected candidates must log back into the system to select their interveiw times.

Some employers require transcripts, writing samples or other documents. You will find these requirements in the "How to Apply" section of the job description.

To upload your transcript:

• Click on Registrar on the Skidmore home page
• Click on the Current Students Tab
• Click on the My Stuff Tab under Hot Spots
• Access My Cumulative Academic Record by entering username and password
• Copy entire document and paste in a Word file.
• Save the document as a RTF file:
  File, Save As, select Rich Text Format (.rtf), then Save

You can then click on "Documents" in the ECCD system and under "Upload Documents", choose "Other Documents". You can see an example under "Sample Documents" on the upload page.
