Description: Study the harmful effects of chemicals on human health and the environment in this unique science that combines the principles of biology and chemistry. Program involves introduction of basic concepts in laboratory research. Interns work full time in a research laboratory on a project, participate in laboratory research conferences, present written and oral reports on research projects and attend seminars on related research topics.

Qualifications: For highly qualified undergraduate students who are exploring graduate school and careers in environmental health sciences and are from underrepresented groups. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents who have completed at least one year of undergraduate education by summer.

Compensation: Successful applicants are awarded stipends, living allowance, tuition & fees.

Description: Program Manager RC-11 Do you like to design things? Drive and manage the design and development of RN product components and/or service-related programs. You'll take a leading role managing the entire software development process, including feature definition, system architecture and design, software specification and implementation, code design reviews, software and user documentation and testing.

Qualifications: Requirements: Technical degree, Computer Science and Engineering, EE, Math or Physics. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, must be able to work well under tight deadlines, and have strong technical understanding. Relevant Co-op or intern experience a plus.

ITXC

Description: We are looking for a summer intern to analyze telephony call models that are specific to internet telephony, model potential call algorithms, develop models that predict network anomalies, data mining, statistical analysis, predictive call algorithms. ITXC is the service providers service for internet telephony. Since April of 1998, ITXC has been used to provide call completion with quality good enough for major global carriers to use to serve their phone-to-phone customers. ITXC has developed patent pending technologies to control the quality of voice on the Internet and leverages that expertise customers.

Earth Island Institute

Description:
Interns can be involved in one of many projects: Sea Turtle Restoration, Earth Island Journal, Brower Fund, Save the Dolphin, Urban Habitat, Appropriate Technology Working Group, and Earth Island Institute. Length of program: Minimum 20hrs/wk for 4 months. The goals of the Brower Legacy Leaders Program are to train activists for careers in environmental advocacy. The program project is the Center for Safe Energy, which collaborates with Russian environmental activists. The Program Coordinator Intern will work with Deputy Director to develop anti-nuclear activist exchange between the U.S. and Russia. Intern will also organize visiting Russian delegation and the CSE staff/U.S. visit to Russia. Other duties include translating, data entry, conversion, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Applicants for the Program Coordinator Intern with the Brower Legacy Leaders Program must be able to speak, read, and write Russian. Must have experience with Russians and Russian culture. Computer skills, excellent writing and communication skills, self-motivation, and independence are desirable.

Compensation: up to $1000 a month ($500 for part time); some unpaid internships.
