Courses & Credits The Skidmore
in Beijing program curriculum integrates intensive language study
with additional content courses offered in English. All courses,
including the language course, have a strong field studies focus.
Courses are offered through the IES Beijing Center and are taught
by local faculty in conjunction with our Resident Director.
There are two required courses
in which all students enroll: Mandarin Language in China and Field
Studies in China.
Students
elect two additional courses, taught in Engliish, from possible
subject areas such as Art, Anthropology, Economics, Government,
and History. Participants are expected to carry a full course
load of 15-16 credits. All course work taken in Beijing is reported
on a Skidmore College transcript. Skidmore College students will
have their grades from Beijing computed in their cumulative GPA
and 300-level credits taken in Beijing may count toward Skidmore’s
“maturity-level” credit requirements. Click

Skidmore’s academic departments and programs have designated
specific study abroad programs that best fit the curricular needs
of their majors and minors. Please check the approved
programs list for your major or minor department to see if
this program has been approved.
If you are not a Skidmore College student, you should check with
your home campus for information on credit transfer.
