Welcome to India

India is an incredible fusion of past and present, boasting a history dating back 5,000 years. Its present-day population of more than a billion people represents more religions, languages, and cultures than any other country in the world. India's great diversity is reflected in its vast geography as well; this subcontinent is home to every imaginable climate. Modern India presents a rich mixture of custom and culture, art and architecture, music and dance that is simply unforgettable.

Skidmore is a member of NYSICCSI, a consortium of six colleges, along with St. Lawrence University, Bard College, The Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Hamilton College, and Hartwick College, that has sponsored a semester-in-India program since 1990. The Faculty Director for the Fall 2006 program is Professor Rob Linrothe, Skidmore College Professor of Art History.
