Why does the world need Skidmore? When we selected Phil Glotzbach as Skidmore's seventh president two years ago, it was with the hope that he could shape a powerful vision for the College's second century. Over the succeeding months, he has worked diligently with the campus to craft a plan to equip our students with the tools and capacities they will need to succeed in today's complex world. Today, one need only step on the campus and feel the hum of activity to know that this plan is in full swing. Perhaps less obvious is the depth of thought, commitment, and passion that Phil has brought to this endeavor. I commend the "Why Does the World Need Skidmore?" document (PDF) as an example of Phil's thoughtfulness and creativity, and his determination to make certain that Skidmore does indeed matter to us and to the world.
