Every
summer, UWW in conjunction with the Office of the Dean of Special
Programs offers a week-long Summer workshop to faculty interested
in developing online courses for students enrolled in UWW, MALS
or the Skidmore Summer session.
The
goal of the Institute is to help faculty develop learning environments
that are in keeping with their individual pedagogical approaches.
Discussions on teaching and learning are the focus of each day,
with supplemental hands-on training to guide the creation of Web
sites for online courses.
Each
faculty member is expected to discuss and begin the development
of a course that can be offered online through UWW. Hands-on training
covers basic Web development applications, as well as an introduction
to online communication and research tools.
The
workshop is limited to 15 participants and is offered only once
a summer. To apply for a space in the UWW Summer workshop, please
send an email with a brief expression of your interest to Phylise
Banner at pbanner@skidmore.edu.
