History and Culture is a program in American cultural history
with an emphasis on regional or period history.
Typical
preparation prior to enrollment:
- A
two-semester survey of American History, or American History
CLEP
- One
additional course in American literature, music, art, or culture
Sample
Curriculum:
Seven
intermediate or advanced courses and a final project (6 credits),
including:
- One
course focusing on a region of the US or period in American
history.
- One
course focusing on the development of an American cultural or
artistic tradition.
- One
course focusing on America's relationship to the larger world.

additional course in expository or creative writing, studio
art, or music

expression across media, or looking at one medium in a broader
cultural context
