Financial Aid Fast Facts

Financial Aid
UWW’s financial aid officer will help determine your eligibility for scholarships, loans, grants or other student aid. You can contact the financial aid office by phone at (518) 580-5450 or via email at ltuttle@skidmore.edu.

The first step in applying for financial aid at UWW is to complete the Free Application for Federal student aid. You may request an application from our financial aid office or complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on-line. From this application the amount that you will be expected to contribute to your education will be determined. Based on your federally calculated expected family contribution and your cost of attendance at UWW, our office will be able to estimate your financial aid award.

UWW students may be eligible to receive federal Pell grants and Stafford loans. New York State residents will automatically receive a preprinted TAP application derived from completing the FAFSA. Aid for Part-time Time Study is available from New York State Higher Education to New York State residents who qualify.

In order to receive financial aid you must maintain satisfactory academic progress and meet "pursuit in progress" standards. Please contact the UWW Financial aid office for further information.

The loan amount that you are eligible to receive will be determined based on your federally calculated expected family contribution (EFC), cost of attendance and enrollment status. The loan will be requested and electronically certified by the Financial Aid Officer. Students must remain in good academic standing in order for loans to be certified and disbursed.

While you are attending UWW at least ½ time you may be eligible for an in school deferment. Occasionally during your enrollment your status on the national database will be overridden by your status at any schools where you complete coursework other than at Skidmore. When this happens your lender may notify you that it is time for repayment. You will need to contact the lender for instructions on reinstating your deferment status. Some lenders will send a paper deferment form to be signed by you then sent to UWW; others may request a fax directly from our office.

New York Residents
New York State residents who file a FAFSA online and list "UWW" and "full-time status" will automatically receive a TAP application. Even if you plan on attending part-time, you should complete the application in the event that you later decide to attend full-time.

If you are attending part-time, please call our office at (518) 580-5455 for an Aid for Part-Time Study Application. APTS applications must be received by September 1st for the Fall term, and by January 2nd for the Spring term.
