The State Street Chapter of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs has announced the availability of one $2,000 scholarship to assist one woman in a career-related study during the next academic year. 

To be eligible, applicants must be:

• a woman 25 years of age or older
• a permanent resident of the counties of Albany, Schenectady, Rensselear, Saratoga, Columbia, Schoharie, Greene or Washington
• enrolled or accepted for full or part-time study in a program leading to an academic, technical or vocational degree or certificate.

The goal of our scholarship program is to aid women who are changing or starting careers due to under-employment, lack of education, changes in their household earning capacity or other circumstances which have hampered or delayed their earning capacity or job stability. The deadline for receipt of application is April 1, 2008.  A personal interview is required of the finalist.  The successful candidate will be notified on or before June 30, 2008.  The awards will be disbursed in equal installments in September 2008 and January 2009.
