Teaching Focus: Printmaking: Relief, Intaglio, Lithography; as well as overall guidance of the program.
Artistic Focus: Using tools and technologies both new (solar plate technology) and old (lithographic stones) to express visually through painting, prints, and artists’ books the multiple facets of life as an artist, wife, mother, and professor.
Awards: Most recently, Bronze Prize, International Print Biennial in Beijing; E.C. Lyons Award, Society of American Graphic Artists 68th National Members Exhibition.
Why Skidmore? “Initially I was attracted because Skidmore has some of the finest printmaking studios anywhere. Once I began teaching, I was impressed by the students’ willingness to challenge me as well as the medium. My dialogue with them is much more mature than I’d seen elsewhere. Studio Arts majors are exceptional in that they bring new approaches and very broad perspectives to their work, which is exactly the point of doing art within a true liberal arts environment.”
Next Project: Developing a course in Book Arts to be taught for the first time in the spring. This has been made possible through the donation of letterpress equipment to the art department and the rich resources on campus including Special Collections in Scribner Library and the Tang print study room.
