Dear
Classmates,
Plans are continuing to take shape for our Reunion at Skidmore, June
2-5, 2005, and if you haven’t done so already, please start making
your travel plans to Cast Away to Our 25th! Consider this …at Skidmore,
the milestone reunions are the 10th, 25th, 40th, and 50th. If you have
not yet been to a reunion, the time to attend is now. Most of us are around
46 years old… if we wait until our 40th reunion, we will be 61 years
old. So come now – and save face!
While more details about the weekend will follow in the preliminary Reunion
brochure that will be
mailed to you shortly, you can learn more about the weekend right now
by visiting the Reunion 2005
homepage. We are really looking forward to a great event, so plan
to attend and consider bringing your family (there are plenty of activities
for the kids!). See old friends and make new ones.
Please call your old roommate(s) and at least five (5) other friends
to ask them to join us in Saratoga Springs in June 2005! Many of us will
be taking a trip down memory lane by staying in the dorms. Alternatively,
there are blocks of rooms available in three area hotels, should you prefer
that option. Be sure to check out the Skidmore reunion Web site for hotel
and flight savings. A few of the Reunion Weekend highlights follow:
- For those of you arriving on Thursday June
2, 2005, there will be an informal gathering at Bruno’s for cocktails
and dinner. This restaurant is located on Union Street, across from
the track.
- On Friday, June 3, there will be plenty of time to reconnect with
old friends, perhaps even over a round of golf, during the Reunion Golf
Tournament, which will be held at the Saratoga Spa State Park course.
Our classmate, Rob Rothschild, has just finalized plans for our class
gathering at Longfellows Restaurant, and it is sure to be a fun evening.
- On Saturday, June 4, we’ll start out the morning with the Parade
of Classes and the Alumni Awards and Class Gift Presentations, followed
by the All Class Picnic – more time to reconnect with old friends.
On Saturday evening, we’ve been invited to join President Philip
Glotzbach and his wife, Marie Glotzbach, at their home for cocktails,
and then we’ll have our very own luau (in keeping with our theme,
of course! – does the party at the Rafter’s ring any bells??),
which will be held under a tent on Case Green and includes a Hawaiian
menu! At 10 p.m. we’ll gather to watch a spectacular fireworks
display and then enjoy music and dancing until midnight under “the
big tent” to the lively sounds of “Nic and the Nice Guys,”
an incredibly popular cover band. If there’s interest, we can
arrange a viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for you late night
die-hards. Please let us know by email.
- As Reunion Weekend winds down on Sunday, June 5, we’ll gather
together for one last time at Sperry’s for brunch!
If
you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to complete the
“intent to attend” post card that we sent to you in early
January. All of the responses that we’ve received so far can be
viewed by clicking on the RSVP icon above.
Once Skidmore begins receiving completed Reunion registration forms,
an attendance list will be posted on our class Web site as well. So, start
packing your beach bag now, and plan to Cast Away to Our 25th Reunion
… we know you’ll have a great time!
Sincerely,
