october 2006
Dear Classmates,

It’s that time of year again - the days are growing shorter, the kids are reluctantly easing back into their school routine, and if you think back to 1983, we were all just settling in on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs for the first time! It may be hard to believe, but here we are with our 20th Reunion rapidly approaching. If you haven’t been back in a while, you are in for a treat. There have been many recent improvements and the campus looks better than ever! With all of the changes, I can’t wait to get back up to Skidmore, and I hope you’re feeling the same way. First and foremost, save the date. Reunion will take place May 31-June 3, 2007. After you mark it down on your calendar, start thinking of those classmates that you would most like to see and call them to generate some excitement for Reunion.

A group of us got together recently in New York City to catch up on old times and start brainstorming for Reunion. We’ve come up with some terrific programming ideas for the weekend, including a Thursday evening reception at Peabody’s with a few of the other classes, Friday night dinner at the Olde Bryan Inn, and bringing it back on campus Saturday night for cocktails at the Surrey and dinner under the tent, live music, dancing and fireworks! It was great to reconnect with old friends, and it got all of us excited about coming back to Saratoga and seeing even more of our classmates at our 20th.

And just because not all of you were able to make it to New York for the evening, that’s no reason not to offer your input. We are looking for a few energetic and enthusiastic classmates to help plan an incredible 20th Reunion. The more voices, the better! So please, if you are interested in helping out, contact Anne Delauney in the Office of Alumni Affairs at 518.580.5611 or adelaune@skidmore.edu.

Come on guys - let’s make this our best Reunion yet! We hope to hear from you about your ideas for Reunion. And for those of you that we may not get a chance to chat with - we will see you back in Saratoga in May!

Where you have been has taken you to where you are, which will lead you to where you are going.

Although we may not keep in touch with all of you that receive this letter, we (Ceci and Christine) obviously share something in common with you – we spent four years in Saratoga (give or take a year or two), completed 120 credits, retrieved our mail from Case Center, may have gone to Ka-Manna-Wanna-Lay-Ya and BLT parties, had at least one meal in either Murray or Atkins Dining Hall and walked “down the aisle” of SPAC for 10 seconds of glory while receiving our diploma from Skidmore College. Click on the thumbnail below for the full size picture!

So, due to this commonality and the well known fact that old friends are the best friends, we are hoping that you will reminisce with your old friends and walk down memory lane with us at our 20th Reunion in Saratoga Springs the weekend of May 31 – June 3, 2007.

The 20th Reunion is always well attended (with the Class on 1986 breaking all previous 20th Reunion records last year), but we are hoping that you will show your competitive spirit and go one up on ’86. Help us break last year’s record by making the trek back to your Alma Mater. If not just for yourself, please consider all those that would really enjoy seeing you and your family – we know we would!
Matter of fact, do it for your family – show them where you spent four consecutive years of your life.
(At that age, did we ever do anything for longer then two weeks?). It will be one of those unforgettable events in your life – we promise!

Even if you just can’t attend, please let us know how you are by filling out the questionnaire on-line if
you haven't already replied by snail mail. Simply click on the icon above, save the document as yourname.doc and email as an attachment to Christine at Christinerasnake@mac.com. One, and only one, strong request – PLEASE provide us with a photo - electronically is best, but “snail mail” is “still” really good! Christine is the brave soul to accept the responsibility of receiving these photos at Christinerasnake@mac.com or by mail at 686 Charnwood Drive, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.

It is critically important to complete and submit this questionnaire and provide us with your photo by January 15, 2007. So beat the holiday scramble - don’t put this letter down. Go straight to your computer to fill out the questionnaire - go into your photo files to retrieve that classic photo that best depicts who you are today and most importantly – hit the send button! You will not be sorry!

Ooops – one more request – we are extremely committed to raise money in honor of Kevin Barry, Tom Glade, Tracy Guy and Peter Hill in a Class of 1987 Memorial Scholarship. We can’t do it without your help – so if you haven’t contributed in this Reunion year yet, please help make a difference!

All the best and thanks for helping all of us break Reunion attendance and contribution records! See you in a few months!
