Michele Forte is an administrator with Public Advocates Inc., a public interest law firm in San Francisco, CA, which seeks to address underlying, systemic causes of poverty and discrimination and to strengthen the voices of the poor, people of color, and immigrants in public policy.
Prior to that, she was executive director of George Mark, a unique children's hospice in San Leandro, CA, that offers round-the-clock care for children with life threatening and terminal illnesses. Forte was instrumental in bringing the facility into existence, helping oversee planning and construction, fund raising, and the acceptance of children and their families in spring 2004.The first freestanding children's hospice and respite care facility in the United States, George Mark serves families in need regardless their ability to pay.
In addition to her current position on the Alumni Board, Forte serves as president of Skidmore's San Francisco, CA, Alumni Club, an admissions contact, and a career mentor. She is a former club secretary, class agent, and a member of the Alumni Awards Committee.
The government/sociology major won the Katherine Scranton Rozendaal Citizenship Award in her senior year.
