Skidmore College Installment Plan (SCIP)

Skidmore in lightsSkidmore is pleased to offer the Skidmore College Installment Plan (SCIP) as a way to spread your basic college costs over a period of 10 months instead of the two large payments due prior to the start of each semester. The cost associated with the plan is the annual application fee of $65 or $90, depending on your enrollment date. The enrollment period starts on June 15 and ends on August 15. Applications received by July 15 are assessed a $65 application fee, and applications received after July 15 are assessed a $90 application fee.

In response to COVID-19 and Skidmore’s ongoing commitment to assist our students and families during these challenging times, the annual application fee for this program will be waived for the Fall 2020 semester. The enrollment period begins on June 15 and ends on August 15.

How does SCIP work?
All full-time students anticipating fees for a full academic year (fall and spring semester) may enroll in SCIP. There are no credit pre-qualifications; however the Bursar’s Office may refuse any application based on unsatisfactory payment history. You may include all or part of your anticipated charges in the payment plan. Payments are due on the 15th of each month beginning June 15, with the final payment due by March 15, 2021. If you enroll after June 15, you must send in any missed payments with your application.

How do I enroll?
The worksheet on the SCIP application is designed to help you calculate your budget. Any amount that you choose to not include in the plan must be paid to the college according to the college’s regular semester due dates (August 15 for fall and December 15 for spring). The application must be signed by the person enrolling in the plan. Please mail the completed application with the application fee and initial payment to the Bursar’s Office. The deadline for enrolling in SCIP is August 15, 2020.

Confirmation of Enrollment and Remaining Payments
Once your application has been received and processed, you will receive a confirmation letter, disclosure statement and instructions on how to make your remaining payments. The direct-debit option is offered through the ebill system. The Bursar's Office cannot arrange for the direct debit; it must be set up by you. Your confirmation of enrollment letter will contain instructions on how you can schedule your payment through the ebill system.

Late Payments and Cancellations
Late payments may be assessed a monthly fee of 1.5% of the overdue amount. The college reserves the right to cancel a participant’s enrollment in the plan if they are two or more payments in arrears.Participants may voluntarily withdraw from the plan as long as the student’s account is current. Application fees will not be refunded for voluntary withdrawals.

Refunds
If a student does not attend Skidmore or subsequently withdraws, transfers or takes an approved leave of absence, all SCIP payments will be handled in accordance with the college's refund policy as published in the college Catalog. Application fees will not be refunded.

Monthly Billing Statements
You will receive monthly billing statements through the ebill system (please make sure you are enrolled in the ebill system). The amount due may be higher or lower than your monthly budgeted amount due to charges or credits that were not part of your budget. The amount on the monthly billing statement is the amount due for that month.
