Holiday Party Announced

The annual Skidmore Holiday Party will take place Jan. 18, 2002 at Longfellow's. Invitations will be in the campus mail in early December.

The event, a longtime campus tradition, is under the direction of Janis Petroski in the Office of College Events and Stewardship.

Saratoga Respite Donations

It’s not too late to contribute to the Saratoga-area effort to benefit the rescue workers of Sept. 11. To date, campus-wide fund-raising for the Saratoga Respite Program exceeds $400.

SGA is confident that the goal of $2,500 for November will be met by month’s end. Currently the Class of 2002 leads in donations, with $127 contributed. Donations are being collected in the Spa, Cyber-Cafe, and the Skidmore Shop. Please help Saratoga Springs say thank you to New York’s rescue workers. For information, contact the SGA Office, ext. 5785.

Honor Thy Children

A workshop on the impact of racism, homophobia, religious prejudice is scheduled at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Ladd 307.

The session will begin with the screening of a short documentary film about a Japanese-American family's experience of losing three children to racial conflict and AIDS. The discussion to follow the movie will build on the questions raised by family members in the film.

Among the topics to be covered are the effects of assimilation pressures, religious prejudice, racism, and homophobia on identity development and family relationships.
The campus community is welcome. Sponsors of the workshop are the Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action in cooperation with the Intercultural Center.
