Post Baccalaureate Programs
Students graduating with a major or minor in Classics who are considering applying
to a graduate program have a number of options available to them. One avenue is to
apply directly to graduate programs, either for a Masters or a Ph.D. in Classics,
Archaeology, Ancient History, or Philosophy. You can also access a comprehensive list
maintained by the Society for Classical Studies.
The other avenue is to enroll in a "post-baccalaureate program," in which Classics graduates spend a year sharpening their skills in ancient Greek and Latin. Students take courses at the next level appropriate for their language skills and apply for MA or Ph.D. programs. The Classics Department maintains a list of post-baccalaureate programs to consider. For further information, contact Prof. Dan Curley, chair of the Department.
