Social media are a great way to get your audience more involved in the message you are communicating, by offering a chance to support that message with "real time" interactions. Do you have a Twitter account, or a blog? Do you have a web site full of news that you'd love to feature on your Facebook page? The Web Team of Communications has those tools for you.
- Blog -- You can feature a feed from your blog on your website, using this plugin. You can customize the colors and title of the plugin, as well as the size. Examples are the IT and the Web Developer's sites.
- Twitter -- You can import your Twitter feed onto your website, using this plugin. You can customize the colors, title, and size of the plugin. You can see this in action on Career Services or Saratoga Classic. You can also set your Facebook account to cross-post to your Twitter account (details here).
- Facebook -- If you have the News feature on your page, it is possible to create an RSS feed from that which will deliver content to your Facebook page. This is a custom feature that you will need to contact Liz Katzman to arrange. You can also set your Facebook account to cross-post to your Twitter account (details here).
- YouTube -- Do you have playlists and videos in YouTube that you would like to feature on your site? This plugin will allow you to display embedded video, using the codes provided by sites like YouTube. It is customizable to the extent that the code provided by the video site is customizable.
If your department (not you personally, but your department!) has a Google Gmail account, there are further options for getting YouTube to auto-post to your Twitter and Facebook accounts (under your YouTube Account settings, Activity Sharing).
If you have questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact the Web Team or Daniella Nordin, Online Community Manager.
