This unique open call exhibition presents artwork created by artists who have passed away, but whose work and memory continue to impact individuals in the region. "For You" gives community members a venue to exhibit work made by loved ones, while celebrating the lives and talents of those artists.

  [7/6 - 9/26] Schick Art Gallery Exhibition: Michael Kuch, Printmaker/Book Artist

Location: Saisselin Art Center - Schick Art Gallery

The Schick Art Gallery at Skidmore College presents an exhibition featuring works by printmaker/book artist Michael Kuch. The show remains on exhibit through September 26, 2010. (NOTE - The gallery is closed August 6 through September 6 for Summer Break.) Many of Kuch's limited edition books are held in the artists' book collection in the Department of Special Collections, Pondorff Room, Lucy Scribner Library, Skidmore College. Paula Hayes creates living artworks that intimately connect people with the natural environment and each other. Her glass terrariums and indoor plantings fill the Tang's Payne Room, transforming it into an oasis-like setting for dinners and conversations around her custom designed table settings and dinnerware.

From wall arrangements that map the work of the 17th century Flemish painter, Jan Brueghel the Elder, to a sound piece made in collaboration with a mathematician and classically trained opera singer, Suzanne Bocanegra's work springs from creative dialogues with a range of collaborators. Her most recent pieces have spilled out of the studio, taking the form of live performances that layer music, dance, theater, and audience interaction.
