FEATURED EVENT
  [7/17 - 1/2] Opener 21: Suzanne Bocanegra: I Write the Songs
Time: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: Tang Teaching Museum - Malloy Wing
The Tang Museum is closed on Mondays and all major holidays. For information call 518-580-8080.

From wall arrangements that map the work of the 17th century Flemish painter, Jan Brueghel the Elder, to a sound piece made in collaboration with a mathematician and classically trained opera singer, Suzanne Bocanegra's work springs from creative dialogues with a range of collaborators. Her most recent pieces have spilled out of the studio, taking the form of live performances that layer music, dance, theater, and audience interaction.

FEATURED EVENT
[9/7 - 1/2] Eye Rhymes
Time: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: Tang Teaching Museum - Winter Gallery
The Tang Museum is closed on Mondays and all major holidays. For information call 518-580-8080.

Each of the works of art displayed in Eye Rhymes contains pictorial and linguistic elements that refuse to coexist but instead vie for the viewers attention-both sides grappling for power. While language can equalize, illuminate or de-saturate the image in front of us, the same image can just as easily intensify, distort or even betray the words we read.

FEATURED EVENT
[9/18 - 2/27] The Jewel Thief
Time: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: Tang Teaching Museum - Wachenheim Gallery
The Tang Museum is closed on Mondays and all major holidays. For information call 518-580-8080.

"The Jewel Thief" combines works by sixty artists with eccentric arrangements to explore new ways to think about and experience abstract art. Through experiments with scale, color, material and space the exhibition will create an immersive environment that raises questions about art, and display and enables fresh takes on the specific works.

[10/9 - 2/27] Elevator Music 17: Peter Edwards
Time: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: Tang Teaching Museum - Elevator
The Tang Museum is closed on Mondays and all major holidays. For information call 518-580-8080.

"Elevator Music 17 features a sound and light based sculpture by sound artist and instrument builder Peter Edwards. Describing himself as a "self-taught electrical engineer", Edwards' atypical approach to electronics has produced a unique and highly personalized outpouring of fantastical instruments. Edward's new work, consists of a cluster of reactive light and sound emitting orbs descending from the ceiling of the Tang's capacious elevator.
