We Feed the World
Location: Palamountain Hall - Davis Auditorium "We Feed the World" is a documentary about our current food system and the production of the food we eat. It covers globalization, long-distance transportation, farmers and fishermen, corporate executives, and more; it is a film about "scarcity amid plenty."Following the screening, a panel discussion will take place at 8 p.m. Panelists are from various disciplines: Paul Arciero (exercise science), Nurcan Atalan-Helicke (environmental studies), John Brueggeman (sociology), Michael Kilpatrick (farmer from Kilpatrick Farms), and Monica Raveret-Richter (biology). Location: Ladd Hall - 307 Hosted by Ralph Lauren?s University Relations Team with special guest speaker Kim Roy, group president of Lauren, American Living and Chaps, who will speak mostly about her role in the company and what is it like to work at RL.Hopefully former intern-turned-full-timer Elaine Burns '12 will be in attendance to discuss her experience as an intern and answer questions. Filene Scholarship Winners Concert
Location: Arthur Zankel Music Center - Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall The Lincoln and Therese Filene Foundation established the Filene Music Scholarships at Skidmore in 1982 to help gifted young musicians further their musical studies and develop their talents as part of a liberal arts education. Chosen from over 140 applicants, the four 2012 recipients are George Dilthey, cello; Emma Marshall, soprano; Daniel Pravder, piano; and Lauren Soong, piano. |

Combing sculpture and live performance, Terry Adkins's installations pay tribute to the memories of under-recognized figures in our collective culture, including John Brown, John Coltrane, Ralph Ellison, Zora Neale Hurston, Bessie Smith, and Sojourner Truth. During performances with members of his Lone Wolf Recital Corps, Adkins activates his sculptural objects through improvisational playing and singing, spoken word, and recorded sound. |
