Quick Pitch

If you are interested in attending law school, I recommend that you focus on obtaining a good GPA and preparing to take the LSATs. I also recommend that you enjoy all that Skidmore has to offer by taking advantage of study abroad programs and the diverse course offerings.

While I was an economics major at Skidmore, I was also able to take piano lessons each semester and play the viola in the orchestra. I also have wonderful memories of spending my entire junior year studying in London.

Prior to being elected to serve as a New York State Supreme Court Justice in the Third Judicial District, I had the opportunity to obtain the necessary skills by selecting positions that would prepare me for the opportunity.

I previously served as a principal court attorney with the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Department, and as special counsel to the presiding justice of the Appellate Division. Prior to my work for the Supreme Court, I was an associate at Nixon Peabody, where I practiced labor/employment law and commercial litigation. I previously spent over four years serving as an assistant attorney general for the State of New York Litigation Bureau, where I performed all phases of complex litigation, including federal and state jury trials. My additional public service includes appointments first as general counsel and then as deputy director for the City of Albany Community Development Agency. I began my career in public service with the City of Albany Corporation Counsel's Office as an assistant corporation counsel.

I enjoy serving my community. To that end, I am a trustee of Albany Law School, a member of the New York State Bar Association's House of Delegates, president-elect of the Albany County Bar Association, a member of the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association, and a member of the Mater Christi School Board. I have also volunteered with the Capital District Keys for Kids program as a piano instructor.

I reside in the City of Albany with my husband Joel Ryba, our 9-year-old son Graham and our dog Truman.
