Quick Pitch

The world is your oyster - pursue the art you've always wanted to do! I recommend finding a part-time or temporary job. Inspiration comes from unlikely places, not always within the walls of art institutions. A steady stream of income will embolden you to pursue your creative passions. I find that viewing art as a respite from my "day job" has allowed me to create with vigor and ease. Likewise, be sure to solidify those time management skills early to tackle work, art, friends, and sleep. A well-balanced artist is a happy artist.

Biography

I graduated from Skidmore in May, 2017 with a B.S in Studio Art, Magna Cum Laude with Honors in Art. After graduation, I moved back to my New York City home in the heart of Greenwich Village. I am producing art in shared studio space in the Flatiron District, as well as working as a part-time museum educator and temporary project assistant with a temp agency. I am also pursuing a certificate in Architecture and Interior Design Studies at Parsons School of Design in New York City to expand my creative career prospects.

As an artist, I produce unique paintings, drawings, and fine art prints to exhibit in local galleries and to sell online. As an educator, I lead school and camp groups on informative art-history-based tours of the museum and plan, organize, and teach art activities for children's groups. As a temporary project assistant, I help Human Resources departments during recruitment season; coordinate interview process between hiring manager and candidate; check candidate's references; and organize candidate files and create welcome packets.

Significant academic events at Skidmore:

When I transferred to Skidmore my Sophomore year, I became a member of Pro Arts Club. I created plans for a mural for a child's advocacy center in Ballston Spa in Fall 2014. The project was featured in a short film produced by Skidmore's Office of Communications that semester

During my Junior year, I was the Case Gallery Manager. I organized and planned "PRINT WEEK," a week long show dedicated to displaying and selling original works by over twenty printmakers in October, 2015.

I studied abroad Abroad in Florence, Italy at the Lorenzo De Medici Institute in Spring 2016. I was selected to exhibit in their annual juried exhibition "Art is in the Square 2016."

During my time at Skidmore, I was featured in numerous group shows around campus. I exhibited in the Schick Gallery's annual "Juried Exhibition" Spring 2015 and Spring 2017 semesters. I was featured in the "Student Art in the Library" exhibitions Spring 2015, Fall 2016, and Spring 2017 semesters. My work was also shown in a week-long Case Gallery solo show in March, 2017 titled "Reflections: Cinque Terre."
