Quick Pitch

Don't spend too much worrying about your career. Most people of your generation will have multiple jobs and occupations. Instead, focus on gaining skills that help you as a person, as a citizen, and in a range of different occupations. Learn to write and speak effectively. Read deeply and learn how to judge what information is trustworthy and important. Learn to code, analyze data, and speak a world language. These things will help you wherever you end up.

Biography

I loved my time as an undergraduate at Skidmore. Working for my alma mater is truly a dream come true. My wife, Beth, and I love living in Saratoga Springs with our big fluffy rescue dog, Willa. I also play soccer on the faculty intramural team against the students.

I'm a quantitative sociology with interests in mass media, sport, and culture. At Skidmore, I teach introductory sociology, research methods and statistics, and "Media Sociology," "Sociology of Sport," and "Social Science Journalism."
