Sustainable Dining - Local Food Initiative

Local food is one facet of sustainable food. Sustainable agriculture involves methods that are good for the earth and people, are humane to animals, uphold fair trade practices, and fortify the local community and economy.

Dining Services places a strong emphasis on using as many local ingredients and local businesses as possible. Our chefs write menus to take advantage of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are naturally in season in the Northeast.

Examples of local products we are currently purchasing are milk, cheese, shelled eggs, yogurt, ice cream, many fresh vegetables, apples, apple cider, donuts, herbs, breads, flour, sausage, some beef, and peanut butter.
