The Charles Lubin Family Chair for Women in Science
Previous Holder: Mary Crone Odekon; Patricia Hilleren; Amy Frappier
Established in 1996 by Sara Lee Lubin Schupf ’62 and her family, the Charles Lubin Family Chair recognizes the need to attract women into disciplines where they have been historically underrepresented and to encourage the increasing presence of women, particularly in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Geology. Holders of the Lubin Professorship will teach a variety of courses in their disciplines and will reach out to students at Skidmore and in area schools and colleges to promote awareness of the excitement of studying and doing science. The appointment will typically remain in place for five years. Members of the faculty will address nominations to the Dean of the Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will consult with the Committee on Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure, the Department, and, when applicable, the Program concerned, in making a recommendation.
