  • "The Blue Mountains are to Australia as the Grand Canyon is to the United States" said SFD '71 to Skids as they admired the Three Sisters.
  • Skids convinced this Sydney City Ranger to take a break from writing parking tickets so that SFD '71 could take their photo.
  • Looking back on Brisbane and Sydney, Skids liked the Creative Thoughts he and SFD '71 had seen like this "Imaginocean" poster. He wondered if the "kiwis" would be as creative as Americans and Aussies are?
  • Arriving in Auckland, New Zealand at the Crowne Plaza, Skids was excited about riding on the elephant in the lobby. SFD '71 explained that generally it is not acceptable to climb on sculptures!
  • Heading to Rotorua with SFD '71, "Good thing the bus tells you it's from New Zealand," thought Skids! "The license plate doesn't give a clue!"
  • Leaving Sydney and Australia, Skids thought back to the Asia-Pacific Triennial exhibit in Brisbane and the installation of three machines filled with Passports. He wished that Susan Flanders Davidson '71 had gotten him one there!!!!!
  • While emails are the communication style of the day, Skids volunteered to mail an old fashioned postcard back to the USA for Susan Flanders Davidson '71. The international stamp costs $1.65!
  • Skids had an opportunity to experience how beautiful New Zealand wool fibers are when SFD '71 placed him in a bale of freshly shorn fleece at Agrodome.

  • Skids got a behind-the-scenes tour at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, SD, with Senior Curator Peggy Downie Banks '72. Here he inspects a very rare alto trombacello made in New Hampshire about 1845 that was just acquired.
  • When the curator turned her back for a moment, Skids tried to play the alto trombacello he found in the research center at the National Music Museum. He said it sounded kind of loud.
  • Skids' tour behind the scenes at the music museum brought him face-to-face with a Flabongo! Pretty scary looking creature that is going to come out soon for a Seussical display.
  • Skids found this 1850s American presentation snare drum hidden away in storage at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, SD. He said that he's always wanted to be a drummer!

  • Skids thought it would be fun to explore the inside of a clavichord at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, SD.
  • Skids had never seen a slide saxophone before and he found two of them out for cataloging when he was allowed behind-the-scenes at the National Music Museum!
  • Skids ended his tour behind the scenes at the National Music Museum by joining in some music-making with a bunch of talented Target dogs he found guarding the Curator's office.
  • This is a picture of Skids with my International Baccalaureate Biology class!
  • One last Jan. 26th activity for Skids as SFD '71 placed him on the back of a sheep on the Rotorua Agrodome show. She said that this will be the last photo for the Jan. 25th deadline. Thanks to the International Dateline, we should be on under the wire!
