HFC - MINUTES -- November 4, 1998
Present:

The meeting began at 9:00 am, Library 437.
Minutes were read, corrected and then approved by the Council.

Revised course proposals for Fall '99 were disseminated. Council members were asked to read and critique for the next meeting if possible.

BI190: Populations and Adaptations, Monica Raveret Richter
- Designate course as HF and add one credit as the Honors component as HF100 Honors Forum Workshop.

- Designate course as HF and add one credit as the Honors component as HF100 Honors Forum Workshop.

The Council discussed at length the ideas for Honors Forum Course Alternatives.

HF271/272: Honors Independent Study (The Council decided to amend this slightly and have Michael prepare it for Curriculum Committee.)

Honors Project (The Council decided to proceed with this alternative and notify Curriculum Committee.)

Study Abroad Honors Experience (Detailed discussion postponed until the next Council meeting.)

The Council approved Kerim Odekon's request to count AM372 Independent Study on "Suburbia in the Next Millennium" towards his seven Honors Forum credits.

A recent discussion among deans at other institutions to which Sue contributed revealed that Skidmore's Honors Program is considered by external communities to be well-designed and implemented. In light of this fact, the Council decided to put together an institutional package for dissemination that describes/advertises the HF. Sue and Michael will plan the creation of this package.
