Faculty Recommendation Form

Faculty Recommendation: The faculty charge to Honors Council is to administer a program for approximately ten per cent of the student population (of roughly 225 members) whose gpa places them in the top 20% of all Skidmore students. Honors Forum membership is not an entitlement for students, even those with the qualifying gpa. Membership selection is competitive. Therefore, we ask faculty members to help us discern the students whom they believe will play a significant role in enhancing the academic life at Skidmore.

Please rate the student (1=lowest; 5=highest) in the following areas:

- Academic Achievement (excellence of work, achievement level relative to peers, zeal for learning)

- Classroom Participation (prompt submission of course work, class attendance, participation in discussions, peer and collaborative skills),

- Leadership Potential (communication skills, classroom engagement, interest in Skidmore and the larger community)

- Overall Recommendation (your assessment of the student’s ability to contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the Skidmore community)

We welcome any additional comments that you believe will be helpful in assessing the student’s candidacy for Honors Forum membership.

Briefly comment on the student's qualifications for admission to the Honors Forum. Please consider specific course work, high academic achievement (Dean's List is an essential criterion), potential for active participation in the classroom, and leadership potential. The Council will also consider the balance among different disciplines represented among the membership.
