Walter Elwood Museum

Curator Internship

Site Hours: M-F: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday (through Labor Day): 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Salary: $500/month
Semester: summer

The Walter Elwood Museum is looking for a bright energetic self-motivated
intern to work on a grant funded history project and new exhibit.  The
intern will be responsible for cataloging, inventorying, and researching
all Jewish and Hebrew artifacts in the collection including those donated
by the Congregation Temple of Israel and other private donors.  The intern
will then be expected to research the Jewish history and its origins in
Amsterdam and the surrounding area to create a timeline for the exhibit.
The intern will end the grant project by designing, preparing and
installing an exhibit of the Jewish History of Amsterdam including
artifact selection, exhibit script and labeling.  Ability to work
independently is a must as well as an interest or degree in Jewish Studies
or Hebrew Studies would be a plus.  Hours will be set between intern and
Executive Director who will supervise the grant project.  Position is
tentatively set to begin in May 2014 and is expected to be completed by
January 2015.  Internship Stipend set at $500.00 per month.  Please send
