Why work at Skidmore?

Thank you for your interest in employment with Skidmore. Here are some of the resources and assets that make Skidmore one of the top employers in the Capital District.

On-site child care
Greenberg Child Care Center provides highly skilled care and learning to children from 8 weeks to 5 years of age. Employees find it a wonderful luxury to drop off their child on campus and even stop in to visit. Greenberg gives preferred enrollment to Skidmore employees and also serves local community families.

Tuition benefits
All employees are eligible for free or greatly discounted tuition—for themselves or their dependents—at Skidmore or at dozens of other top colleges around the country.

Free and green transportation
Capital District buses are free with a Skidmore employee or student ID card; buses stop every half-hour at Skidmore and cover Saratoga Springs, Albany, Schenectady, and Troy. Employees can arrange carpooling through an online map and blog, and two campus parking lots have electric-vehicle chargers. Free bicycle rentals are also available.

Cultural events occur on campus virtually every day and evening, from lectures and forums to renowned performers to headline-making exhibitions. Most are free or discounted for Skidmore employees. Three main venues are the Bernhard Theater, Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, and Arthur Zankel Music Center.

Gold-medal dining
Skidmore scores high in national best-college-food rankings and routinely wins silver or gold in American Culinary Federation competitions. Faculty and staff regularly use the main dining hall as well as the snack shop and the cafe; meals are discounted when paid with a Skidmore ID card (it’s easy to reload funds into the card anytime).

Beautiful setting
Skidmore’s green, safe, walkable campus offers employees free access to extensive athletic facilities (including employee fitness classes), the library, two art galleries, dining, the bookstore, miles of woodland trails, and more.

Downtown purchase discounts
Many Saratoga restaurants, boutiques, and other retailers gladly accept payment from Skidmore ID cards, and Skidmore also provides employees with discount certificates for downtown businesses.
