General Databases

EBSCOHost Academic Search Elite (Coverage : 1984- | Abstracts | Full-text | Updated: Daily.) Provides full-text for over 1,200 journals (some back to 1990) covering the social sciences, humanities, general science, multi-cultural studies and education. It also has abstracts and indexing for over 3,000 scholarly journals, and over 1,700 are peer-reviewed. The Wall Street journal, New York times, and the Christian Science Monitor are also indexed.

LexisNexis Academic Provides full text news and information on a regional, national, and international level. Especially useful for locating full-text newspaper articles and country profiles.

ProQuest Provides access to ABI/Inform Global (1457 business related titles), Periodical Abstracts Research II (1817 multidisciplinary titles), and Newspapers Abstracts (incl. 90-day NYTimes and Wall St. Journal; 32 titles). Full text and images are provided where available.


Foreign Language and Literature Databases

Arts & Humanities Search (Coverage:1980- Updated weekly.) Indexes more than 1,300 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals and selected articles from more than 5,800 socialscience and science journals. It indexes articles, bibliographies, editorials, letters, reviews,and more.

Humanities Index (Coverage: 1984- updated: Monthly.) Contains citations for more than 300 humanities publications. Covers feature articles, book reviews, interviews, obituaries, bibliographies, fiction, reviews of plays and radio and television programs and more. It does not include letters to the editor, editorials, news, cartoons, and advertising.

Iter gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance
A bibliography of approximately 230,000 articles and reviews drawn from over 475 medieval and Renaissance journal titles. Updated daily and with more than 60,000 new records added annually, will be of great use to scholars interested in Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700).

Johns Hopkins Guide to Literary Theory & Criticism A full-text searchable database of articles on individual critics and theorists, critical and theoretical schools and movements, and the critical and theoretical innovations of specific countries and historical schools.

MLA International Bibliography (Coverage: 1963- updated: Quarterly.) Produced by the Modern Language Association, indexes critical materials on modern language, linguistics, and folklore. Provides access to over 3000 journals and series published worldwide, as well as monographs, working papers, proceedings, and bibliographies.

German Language and Culture Studies Gateway compiled by Andreas Lixl, Professor of German at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (USA). Listed here are some of the most useful interdisciplinary German resources on the World Wide Web. These literature and culture trails are designed for those who like to explore the Internet as a virtual language laboratory or engage in research and study projects, including language, literary theory, and music.

German Resources (Universität Karlsruhe) Links to German resources in the subject areas of philology and cultural studies, social and natural sciences, mathematics, general research and more.

Institute for the German Language, Manheim (IDS)
The Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim was founded in 1964. It is the central non-university institution for the study and documentation of current usage and recent history of the German language. IDS is Germany’s central institution for the study and documentation of the German language. Searchable in German and English, this site provides general information on the German language and offers links to other resources.

(Western European Studies Section - Association of College and Research Libraries) Coordinated by Reinhart Sonnenburg of Dartmouth College, designed to provide access to scholarly resources in German Studies, including all German-speaking countries.
