American Women's History: A Research Guide
Ken Middleton, reference librarian at Middle Tennessee State University Library, provides citations to print and Internet reference sources, as well as to selected large primary source collections. The guide also provides information about the tools researchers can use to find additional books, articles, dissertations, and primary sources.

Diotima: materials for the study of Women & Gender in the Ancient World
Published by the Classics Departments of the University of Kentucky and University of Miami, and
part of the Stoa Consortium. An interdisciplinary, scholarly resource in support of the study of patterns of gender in the ancient Mediterranean. Subject coverage includes Greek and Latin linguistics and literature, Greek and Roman history, archaeology, mythology and religion.Find course materials, linked resources (articles, book reviews, databases, images and more), and a searchable bibliography.


University of Wisconsin Women's Studies Librarian's Office
The Office of the University of Wisconsin System Women's Studies Librarian (Madison campus) was created in 1977 to serve students, faculty, librarians, and administrators across the UW System, and now remotely. Access hundreds of authoritative links, by subject. Search WAVE (Women's Audio Visuals in English) Videos Database, tutorials, feminist collections, programs, research centers, libraries, and archives, and more. 

Women's Studies Database from University of Maryland
The Women's Studies Database, created in September 1992, serves those people interested in the women's studies profession and in general women's issues. The database contains calls for papers, conference announcements, employment opportunities, gender issues, film reviews, reference resources, a significant number of government documents, and much more.

WSSLINKS Women and Gender Studies Web Sites

The gateway Women's Studies Programs & Research Centers offers access to approximately 700 links to Women's Studies programs and research centers worldwide.

American Memory Project
Historical collections for the National Digital Library, Library of Congress. Primary source materials relating to the history and culture of the United States. This site offers more than 7 million digital items from more than 100 historical collections.

Women's Studies: A Research Guide from NYPL
The Research Libraries of The New York Public Library are one of the most important resource centers for Women's Studies in the United States. In addition to vast retrospective holdings relating to women, including manuscript and archival material, NYPL has a strong collection of current Women's Studies materials reflecting new trends and thought on feminist theory and scholarship.

 

Organizations

Feminist.com

A non-profit organization launched by women in the fields of law, television, journalism, music, marketing and communications to facilitate information-sharing among women and encourage mobilization around political issues. Access news, bulletins, resources and links, women's health info, articles and speeches, women-owned businesses, and activism. 

The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction
The mission of the institute, located at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, is to promote interdisciplinary research and scholarship in the fields of human sexuality, gender and reproduction. Search Library & Special Collections, related resources, services & events, and more.

National Women's Studies Association
(NWSA) supports and promotes feminist/womanist teaching, learning, research, and professional and community service at the pre-K through post-secondary levels and serves as a hub of information about the interdisciplinary field of Women's Studies for those outside the profession. 

National Organization for Women (NOW)
(NOW) began as the definitive voice of America's women's movement. Its broad scope now includes national and international news, political perspectives, important topical coverage (such as domestic violence and media diversity), awards, women in the spotlight, legislative updates, conferences and more. Search by keyword, find local chapters and contact information, research issues, participate in e-polls.

 

Specific Information Resources

Gifts of Speech: Women's Speeches from Around the World
Database created by Liz Kent, Librarian, Cochran Library, Sweet Briar College to preserve and create access to speeches by influential contemporary women from around the world. Scope is primarily noteworthy living women; secondary goal is the inclusion of speeches made since 1900. Upon request, some older material has been added. Searchable by author or year, and by category, including Nobel Lectures and Top 100 American Speeches of the 20th Century.
